MR. & MRS. SCARECROW

When the harvest is near
and the farmers fear
their crop will be eaten by birds

But sowers needn't worry
there is something more scary
to drive them away with no words

Mister & Mrs. Scarecrow
two hands & one leg though
can frighten away, poor Sunbirds!

Given below are the pictures of the scarecrow craft we did for celebrating the harvest festival in the Art Class. We used disposable cups, candy sticks, craft paper, some crayons and lots and lots of fun!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Because of this blog, I can share my moments of joy and delight straight from my…..Art Class :) On the occasion of Thanksgiving, we created this funny picture in which Professor Turkey tries really hard to explain where you can find 'Turkey' on the world map! Now we all know why Professor Turkey is frustrated because of this. Well…what can one say to pacify Professor Turkey. Any answers?

LONG LONG TIME AGO...

Yes...a really long long time ago, I wrote the last post on this blog and it is high time I resume this again before this blog becomes a part of our arts history:-)

Self-portraits have always fascinated me ever since I was a kid. Kids always love themselves and more often than not love to draw their own faces. Hence I conducted a self-portrait lesson in the art class and I must say...they came up with some extremely wonderful work.

As it was their first attempt at drawing a "real" human face, (of course real as it was their own face they were drawing) I wanted it to be more fun and interesting than to be challenging and tedious. Hence I created a starting point for them by providing them the following:
A) A template of a face, neck and shoulders made in corrugated board B) A mirror for them to observe their own features
C) A frame for their portrait, which they created based on their own design thinking. This is shown in the picture below:

THE STORYTELLER

ONCE UPON A TIME...
Reeled off the Storyteller
One zillion eggs were sleeping
And snoring under the stellar.
There was a daring One in eggs
Said the Fabler scratching his legs.
It wanted to be the first to hatch
Show courage no one could ever match!

A bolt of lightning struck the leaf
Sinking all eggs but One in grief.
A thousand holes punched in the shell
Out stormed the caterpillar from its cell.
Howling with hunger and noises peculiar
Crawled the Woolly, exclaimed the Junior!
Catching some breath over a pause
Progressed the story without flaws.

The insatiate creature now ate and ate
Pizzas, ice-creams and dinner plates.
And just when it thought, freedom was here
The world blacked out and food disappeared.
Alone, afraid, nervous and noiseless
Imprisoned again, hung down the Chrysalis.
The reciter advanced with dilated eyes
Being lucid, graphic and over dramatized!

Part dead, part alive, breathed out the Pupa
Waiting to get baked or eaten by a-barracuda!
As the time scaled up, the spirits went down
Don't give up fathead, came a voice from around.
Inflating full body, the Narrator stood high
BOOM! came the sound, burst forth the Butterfly!
Embracing the life in this moment prime
Went on the Storyteller...Once upon a time.
